Refunds

Charged for something you cancelled?

Most people never ask, because writing the email is the hard part. The app writes it — with the grounds stated, the payment named, and the European rule cited when it applies — and opens it in your own mailbox for you to send.

Step one

Start it from wherever you are

There is a card on the home screen and a money button in the bar on every other one. The moment you realise you were charged for something you cancelled is never the moment you happen to be on the right page.

Step two

Three answers, one of them already filled in

Which mailbox, which subscription, and on what grounds. The reason is the one that matters: support agents work from a reason code, and a request with none gets the “all sales are final” template back.

Didn't use it.
I have not used the service at any point during the billing period this payment covers.
Renewed unnoticed.
The subscription renewed automatically without any advance notice from you, and I did not intend to continue it.
Charged after cancelling.
I had already cancelled this subscription before the payment was taken, so it should not have been charged.
Charged twice.
I was charged more than once for the same billing period, and I am asking you to return the duplicate payment.
Trial converted.
I was charged when the free trial ended. I did not intend to continue past the trial and did not use the paid period.
Add your reason.
Leaves one line for you to replace, shouting so it cannot be sent by accident.

Refund request — Netflix subscription

Hello Netflix Support,

I am requesting a refund of my most recent Netflix payment.

Reason: I have not used the service at any point during the billing period this payment covers.

Payment details
- Account email: you@example.com
- Amount charged: €13.99 per month
- Charged on (approx.): 2026-09-10

Please:
1. Refund the payment above to the original payment method.
2. Cancel the subscription so that it does not renew again.
3. Reply to this email confirming the refund and when it will arrive.

As this payment was taken less than 14 days ago and the service was not used in that period, I would ask you to treat this as a withdrawal request under EU Directive 2011/83/EU.

Request sent on 2026-09-18.

Thank you,
you@example.com
Step three

The letter is already written

Your mailbox opens with this in it. Not a template with blanks — the amount, the approximate charge date and the three numbered asks are filled from the subscription you picked.

It asks for three things, numbered.
The money back, the subscription stopped, and a reply saying when. A support desk can action a numbered list; it cannot action a complaint.
The EU line appears only when it holds.
Directive 2011/83/EU is cited when the charge is under fourteen days old and the period went unused — and phrased as a request, because the withdrawal right for digital services can be waived once the service is consumed. Overclaiming it invites a flat refusal.
It goes from your address, not ours.
The mailbox you picked is the one that received the receipt, which is the one the merchant can match to the charge.

Then it is out of our hands

The claim lands in the merchant’s support queue like any other email. Some refund in days, some argue, some ignore it.

We will not pretend otherwise: there is no button here that makes a company pay. What the app removes is the part that stops people asking — finding the charge, knowing the grounds, and writing the thing. The outcome you record yourself, and the app keeps the history.

Find the charge first

A refund starts with noticing. Connect an account or upload a statement, and the subscriptions you forgot arrive with their dates attached.
